Carefully restoring one of Guildford’s
most significant landmarks
Proposed Restoration
Proposed Activation
The building is need of several immediate restoration and conservation works to return it to its former glory. Restoration of the building is the most important (and first) step of the project.
We plan to:
-
Repair, restore and repaint the Clock Tower
-
Replace the leaking, structurally damaged roof with heritage approved, like for like materials
-
Repair the buildings gutters, downpipes and drainage
-
Repair internal and external rising damp
-
Restore the original 1897 'weather struck' pointed brickwork by remove the existing peeling paint
-
Return finials and other details to the building
To ensure the building is able to be enjoyed by the community for many years to come, we aim to activate the space through a tasteful cafe & patisserie, as well as a licensed bistro style restaurant.
This will include:
-
Minor heritage approved works to the original structure
-
Subtle extensions to the rear of the building to house extended dining, kitchen and bathroom facilities.
-
Additional car parking at the rear of the property

Frequently Asked Questions
Who owns the post office?
The project is led by Bilgoman Property Pty Ltd, a collaboration between Christopher McLoughlin, Elliott Chipper, and Leigh Doherty. We are personally committed to ensuring every detail respects the building's historic importance.
What are the plans for the site?
The restoration works will conserve the Guildford Post Office and reactivate the building with the opening of Parcels - a refined cafe, patisserie, and licensed restaurant. Parcels will offer the local community a range of hospitality and dining options that celebrates artisanal quality within a heritage-respectful setting.
How long will this take?
We expect the restoration and activation period to last for approximately nine - twelve months.
How will heritage preservation be maintained?
Our approach centers on contemporary classicism. We are carefully restoring original features while selectively integrating modern elements that honour the building's 19th-century soul without compromising its structural integrity or historic narrative. We have, and will continue to, work with DPLH and other heritage experts and stakeholders.
Can community members contribute stories?
Yes, we encourage residents to share their experiences and memories of the Guildford Post Office. You can visit our History page to submit your stories or fill out the feedback form to help us document the life of the GPO through the decades.
